Questions
What fabric is used for swimwear?
A polyester and spandex stretch knit. Our Swim and Sport Stretch UPF50+ is 85% polyester and 15% spandex, made for swimsuits and rash vests.
What does UPF50+ mean?
UPF is the sun protection rating for fabric, and 50+ is the highest rating. It tells you how much UV the fabric itself blocks.
How much swimwear fabric do I need?
1 m of 140 cm wide fabric covers an adult one-piece up to about AU 18 or a bikini. Allow 1.5 m for an adult short sleeve rash vest.
What do I need to sew swimwear?
A stretch or ballpoint needle and a stretch stitch or overlocker, so the seams move with the fabric.
Can I print my own design on swimwear fabric?
Yes. Upload your artwork on the Print Your Design page and choose Swim and Sport Stretch UPF50+.
